Coach Randy Catron has loved riding since the time he received his first bike. It started with races against the neighbor kids around the block. Then there were local charity rides and onto RAGBRAI as a teenager. In 1994 he started racing at the age of 34.
Since that time Coach Randy has been deeply involved in the Iowa cycling scene. He has promoted some of Iowa's largest races, and currently directs one of Iowa's largest competitive cycling teams.
Coach Randy is a USA Cycling licensed Level 1 (Elite) coach. He is also certified as a Strength and Conditioning Specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning Association, and has attended USA Triathlon Level 1 coaching school. Coach Randy is one of a few coaches who have attended USA Cycling's power analysis clinic (Powertaps, SRM, Ergo, etc.). In his "spare time" Randy is completing a Masters Degree in Exercise Science.
Randy lives in Urbandale, Iowa, with his wife Terri, their sons Kyle and Cody, and two sphynx cats, Sammy and Diva. (Click HERE for Coach Randy's Cycling Resume).
